About Us

The Small Passenger Service Association (previously known as the New Zealand Taxi Federation) is an organisation that advocates for positive change and enforces standards in the small passenger service industry in New Zealand. We are open to all those who operate with a small passenger service licence. Our primary responsibility is to level the playing field across the small passenger service industry and to lobby government for legislative change. The SPSA aims to bring customers, operators, and suppliers together through education and communication. We also provide support to operators at the driver level. 

The SPSA is committed to conducting its activities efficiently and ethically, while also adhering to all legal obligations. This commitment extends to our members and drivers who are expected to maintain the highest ethical standards. The SPSA recognises our obligations to our community, members, partners, customers, suppliers and all other stakeholders. To fulfill these obligations, the SPSA operates according to several principles, which include;

By consolidating the industry, the Association is able to influence decision makers and drive positive change, while also providing a platform to voice the concerns of the industry and put the brakes on unfavourable decisions. We provide a marketing opportunity through the use of the Association's logo on vehicles and marketing materials. The Association is a well-respected organisation and we advocate for our members and provides them with support and a network in time of need.
